A Major Signing for the WSL Side Schüller, who has six months left on her deal, has been a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. Her arrival is viewed as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League team. Her exit from Munich has been anticipated after she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s supporters following a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month. It was reported in late December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its top forwards. Per reports, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised. Consistent Goalscoring to Boost United's Forward Line The experienced striker's signing should represent a significant uplift to United’s attacking options. Schüller has been highly consistent in front of goal in Germany’s top flight. Over seven straight seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals. She won the top scorer award in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals. Gathering Momentum at Old Trafford The acquisition of Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club seem to be building positive momentum. Their recent performances include qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals. In the transfer market, the winter break has seen further business: The acquisition of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal. The contract extension for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023. Regarding the midfielder's extension, a club official commented: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.” Lundkvist, who has arrived from a side from the NWSL, said: “You can sense how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
