🔗 Share this article The Latest Relaxed Game Mode Sparks Intense Discussions Regarding AI Players, XP Rewards, and Wait Times Over the weekend, Battlefield Studios introduced a new game mode titled Casual Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option resembles the standard Breakthrough setup but features a few key changes: Each team has only eight real players, with the rest made up of AI-controlled opponents. Activities performed by human gamers award full XP, while bot actions provide lower rewards. Only two locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State map. Elements like Player tags, accolades, and career stat updates are disabled. In short, the playlist delivers on its title: it offers a laid-back version of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it gives additional choices for gamers seeking alternative ways to enjoy the title. However, gaming history have taught us anything, it is that you can't please everyone. In other words, a lot of BF6 players are mad. Player Reactions: Anger to Support "People want human opponents. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," states one reply to the mode reveal. "Truly disappointing idea," says another. At the same time, in community forums, one user notes, "I have no idea where we are going with this title," while another details all the issues they consider to be problematic in the game: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist." On the other hand, amid the criticism, some gamers sharing how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's very fun to practice, real players prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," says a forum post. "This subreddit fails to see that there are gamers who actually go outside and can't play this title all the time. Allow them to strike a balance," states another. One reply on Twitter explains that as they're "a parent gamer with limited time, this is great for me," while someone else applauds the mode for "not being overcompetitive." Valid Criticisms and Community Input All that said, there are valid points to criticize the new mode. A few folks have pointed out that it could increase wait times more extended for different playlists because of the sheer number of playlists in the game already. On a similar note, some areas often face AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of real players, even though it primarily centers on fighting AI opponents. Lastly, one of the biggest grievances is that Battlefield Portal was meant to provide full XP, including AI matches, but that got canned when they attempted to remove XP farming from the system. So Casual Breakthrough feels like the player base meeting them in the middle, according to forum feedback. Another describes this mode as the developers "dropping the ball so hard, I experienced so much fun in the initial release, what prompted them to adjust it?" Future Prospects: Adjustments Occur? If the development team has demonstrated something to date with the latest installment, it's that they're listening and responding to feedback. Assignments being too difficult got fixed rapidly, as did the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data shows this recent mode isn't performing to their expectations, they won't be shy to make further modifications.
