Alpine star Lindsey Vonn states she will be "perfectly prepared" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, following earning a place on the rostrum for the fourth instance in five World Cup events.

The 41-year-old, who last week set a record by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her 142nd career World Cup podium finish.

Strong Return in the French Alps

Racing in the French Alps resort for the first time in almost a decade, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was 0.36 seconds behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking second place.

"I was slightly lacking the right line on the first jump," Vonn said. "After that, I skied well. I'm happy with my performance today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough."

This result was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere during the event, having also finished third in the downhill race on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Injury

Vonn officially retired in early 2019 because of persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in December 2024 following a major knee surgery.

With less than two months remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are timely.

She already possesses one gold and two bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games.

"In Cortina, I will be fully ready," Vonn affirmed.

Chasing More Titles

Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four overall crystal globes she has secured over a career spanning two decades.

She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the top of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table.

This season's World Cup circuit includes a nine more events taking place before the circuit finale in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
