Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for questions to be raised about his position following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager lamented recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with performances like these.”

He concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
