19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's first trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.
Success also indicates he has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.
He came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
He saved four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
