Igor Jesus found the net on two occasions as the Premier League side rounded off the league phase of the Europa League with a convincing win against Ferencvaros at the home stadium. Forest had already secured a berth in the knockout round play-offs and went into this game with a slim possibility of reaching the top eight, although they required other matches to go their way. That did not happen but this confident display will give Forest fans confidence that their team can navigate the two-legged play-off to reach the last 16. Kristoffer Zachariassen struck the post with a header inside the opening stages for the away team – coached by ex-Premier League forward Robbie Keane – but it was dominantly the home side from that point forward. Forest opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Ryan Yates' cross was turned into his own net by the defender and added a second shortly after – the striker squeezing a shot in at the back post for his 10th goal of the campaign. Jesus' eleventh goal came early in the second half when he made a perfectly-timed run to break clear of the defence and then drive an effort beyond the goalkeeper. That goal killed off the visitors' aspirations of mounting a recovery and instead the hosts added a fourth when the excellent James McAtee scored from a penalty after a foul by the hapless Bence Otvos inside the penalty area on the winger. The Europa League knockout phase play-off draw takes place on the final Friday of January (12:00 GMT), where Nottingham Forest might face either the Turkish side or Panathinaikos. "It is not just the result, there was that feel about it. I want these players to do well as a unit, the entire team," said Forest boss Sean Dyche. "This is another step, but it is a positive one."
