Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions in 2025 due to a medical condition she has been battling for the last week and a half.

At 22 years old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

She had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has affected her during parts of the season.

Those results signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won twenty-eight matches in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
